===========================================

A number of folks have been exploring the possibility of establishing an NCOWS posse in the Central Florida area. If you have an interest in finding out more about NCOWS, or are seriously considering joining NCOWS, or would like to be part of establishing an NCOWS presence in our state, please contact me by email or respond to this thread.

Thanks!

I joined NCOWS this morning.  So far, only one Florida pard has responded offa this thread.  BUT, I'll see a dozen or so of the boys over the next month.

NCOWS looks like a good excuse not ta sell some of my pistolas and a GREAT excuse fer buyin' another hat or two. or three. :grin:

Can you give us a quick idea how NCOWS and SASS are alike and different?  Never have quite understood this. :?

I'm in the process of pulling a list together of the differences.  There are quite a few.  The types of firearms allowed in NCOWS include 19th Century double actions or reproductions, cross-bolt safeties are a no/no.  Buscadero rigs don't cut it.  Vaqueros are OK.

The list looks like it is fairly long, but it ain't for most folks.  The thing that appears to me most different is the application of the rules.  Folks try to shoot authentic loads.  There appears to be a lack of gamers.  The rules concentrate on safety and are fairly simple.  Black powder is given a lot more emphasis.

When I get finished, I'll run it by the NCOWS bunch that I know for their review, then post it over here and at TFS for folks to gander at.

Clothing choices too I would imagine. I would get tossed on my ear in my sass outfit.
We have no NCOWS around here, but we have one club not far away that is affiliated with WASA and another starting up that probably will be too.
Choices are good.

I guess by now you've figured I have no problem with your posting this here. Don't mind ya trying to stir up some more members for your shootng enjoyment down thar in FL.

I'm really a newbie at CAS and have only the one match behind me that I went to with Holiday and the crew. Was hoping to shoot tomorrow with them again but it ain't gonna happen. I hope to still be up to visit next month at the State Championship but won't be shooting.

What is TFS? Is that the official SASS site?

Yeah guys I know once again I'm posint as GB and not as the Marshall but dang it seems every time I'm on as the Marshall nothing much is happening and when I drop in as GB I see something to comment on.

Hey GB!  If you are talking about going to the State Championship in Alabama, I sure hope the prettiest, best shooter I know will be there:  Bama Belle.  A very nice lady and a WartHog to boot!

TFS is the Frontier Spot.  A cowboy action shooting type site that got started this February.  To say that it is "simpatico" with SASS would be, well...a stretch right now.  But, the same guys that hang out here, hang out at the other sites too.  I think most of us try to keep our questions/topics different so they don't show up here and there to just chew up bandwidth.

As it is, this site has gotten two fellas that I don't know real well to send me an email and think about starting a club.  More clubs, more shooters!

Thanks for the electrons.

==================

ps.  a WartHog is the equivalent of Big Bore High Power Cowboy shootin'.  Black powder or smokeless but full cases of FFFg in 45 Colt is my favorite.

Yup Bama is the one. I'm gonna try to make it one day of the three. I don't intend to shoot only watch and maybe get some photos. I do want to see the vendors and what they have. I figure one day should be enough to do that and spend a few minutes with the Pards I know up there.
