I must say I am very impressed! Had one 15 years ago and was quite happy with it, but it appears the quality of manufacture , fit and finish have improved noticeably. I'm guessing a 2008 production ( HY prefix) and she's a standard barrel .223. Loaded up some 50 gr V-Max's over 27 gr BL-C2 in Federal cases. OAL 2.30. These things have deep throats! She slugs at .218 bore and .2235 groove that's perfect to me. her trigger's not bad, a clean 4 1/2 pounds.My last experience with a Handi was heartbreakingly positive.I had to sell her...damn mortgage
(Anyway, I'm hoping for similar results. I've heard and read about not using 5.56 Nato in .223's and I understand that H&R warns against this.However, my Handi didn't come with the paper warning . Given that the throat on this rifle is definately deeper than most civi .223's and the bump to a 1-9 twist, has H&R changed their minds? 5.56 doesn't really interest me much , except for the brass which is both cheap and very durable.Its good to have Handi again. Now extra barrels...
