Barrel lock up Handi vs. contender/encor et al
« on: March 03, 2009, 01:05:27 PM »
Objectively, they're both break open designs, is there enough of a difference to matter in terms of wear life and rigidity? I had an Encore .223 a couple years ago.It was accurate but it took awhile to get it there and it wasn't really consistent. Both are obviously adequate for their purposes, but is one design really better than the other?  P.S. I'm partial to the Handi's myself...

pound for pound and $ for $ I agree with you about the handi.
As far an strenght goes it's the contender, the Handi and then the encore.
Only because of what is the highest pressure/ power ctg it can take.  Since the Encore can do Belted mags.  I say it wins in the barrel swap catagory until you want a belted mag.
With the cost of a handi being almost the same as just a encore barrel.  It is easier to just get a whole rifle and not worry about screw torque and fore ends.
