T/C Omega and 209a primers
« on: March 03, 2009, 03:33:28 PM »
The T/C Omega calls for 209 ( Large rifle)primers. I recently was given 1000 of the 209a (I believe shotgun) primers. I have always used the 209  large rifle primer and would like to use 209A's. Other than what looks like a larger flash hole I don't see any reason I can't. They fit into the primer pocket OK and look like they will work. Any comments would be appreciated.  Roby

You might be confused... the T/C Omega calls for 209 shotgun primers (not rifle primers).
If you already have shotgun primers... you're good to go.

I have an Omega too....and use W209 or CCI primers for black powder, pyrodex, or 777.   For BH209 powder I use the Fed 209A primers.  ;)

Good luck...Rob

Thanks for the reply. I couldn't find the literature but I thought for sure it called for 209 large rifle. That's what I have been using for the last 2 years...no problems. I'll switch to the 209A's still using the 777 powder.    ;D

If your using 777 just about anything will work. But Federal 209A is what i would use if i had to buy some.
