Good morning Montana fans!!!  2 degrees, clear blue skies and a dusting of snow over night...something is changing weather wise.  I have one of those sinus pressure headaches this morning.   Spring is coming I can feel it in my head.

We need just a touch of warmish dry weather so I can get out to the Gun club range and do some shooting.  I have two Khyber Pass made Martini rifles and 500 rounds of ammunition to run through them.  The purpose is to try and break them. I am going to have a whole chapter on them in my book.  If the 500 rounds of GI Surplus ammo doesn't break them, then I am going to build some loads like P.O. Ackley did back in the late 40's early 50's with the military actions used in WWI to test their strength.  I am going  to take pictures with my digital camera of the failures and include them in the book. Should be exciting.

WANTED: heavy walled steel tubing with a minimum 8.8-9.0 inch inside diameter and at least 20 to 24 inches long for craft project to keep a couple of retired gentleman active at the senior center.

I had started a post but then got side tracked.......

Well last night we got blasted with an end of season blizzard.  I was very happy that it was over by the time I got up this morning with it being 10* with a -4* wind chill.  I found a guy thru someone else that can make me a good traditional compound bow here in Montana.  Actually there are a couple of guys just south of me that specialize in just traditional bows.

Montanan  : Matt Clark here makes custom bows . His # is  406-937-6925
He is a local ranch lad about 40 years old. Makes some beautiful bows.

Doug , went measuring Argon bottles today . I read all the links you posted . I found one Argon bottle that was 29 5/8" Circumferance . The others were 29 3/8"  May have to make a trip to Gt.Falls to Gendco to check out the salvage bottles . The ones I measured were @ the Gas suppliers retail store in town .

We also took a tour through the new BP station east of Town , Took John along , Quite a facility . Long ways from finished.

No Gophers spotted . Still a bit frigid .

Left Handed people are in their right mind .

Our snow amounted to a few dry flakes this morning.  Wind and cold till about 3:30, then saw the sun come out and the wind drop down some.  It was 16 when I got home an hour ago.  Supposed to get to 41 Sat. and stay in the mid 30's Sun.  Gotta work tomarrow, have a friend coming down from Butte, gonna do a gun swap, never seem to have the time to play with all I have now.  With 7 kids, one of them will get it.  Montanan and Double D, hope the pain goes away soon, seems to hang on longer the older a guy gets.  Best to all who read this thread.  DP

There is nothing like the joy of shooting traditional archery gear Montanan! I got my brother started on trad gear a couple years ago and he has not shot his compound since.

Pab1 I know what you mean, and I can't wait to get my hands on one.  The nice thing is my wife knows that when you purchase your bow and equipment unlike firearms where the cost keeps mounting because of ammo.  Arrows unless you robin hood them, or damage them in another way by cracking or breaking them your pretty well set for repeatable shooting cost free.  So until I can do it, I will keep shooting my Mathews Dremalin which is pretty much my main hunting companion  ;D
