interesting Tikka experiment
« on: April 14, 2011, 01:40:39 PM »
I have both a T3 lite in 223 and a T3 hunter in 30-06.   At the range today I swapped the stocks to see if there was any significant change.  Well I found out there really isn't any difference.  Both shot well with either stock.   Point of impact stayed the same and group was similar in all the tests.  My plan would be tpo use the synthetic stock on the 30-06 because I often have to hunt during foul weather.   I continue to be impressed by the accuracy of the 2 I have.

So you put the wood stock on the 223?  Did the 30-06 seem to "kick" any more?  Are both of these blue?  I know, lots of questions.  I thinking about another Tikka, maybe in 243 or 25-06.  Would rather have an older Whitetail Hunter model but may have to settle for the T3.
thanks,

The 223 is the one I put the wood stock on and the 30-06 has the synthetic now.   The recoil of the 30-06 did not seem noticably different

Interesting experiment.Wonder how it'd stack up against other production rifles. My T3 .243 has noticeably lighter recoil than my Savage .243 even though the Savage is a heavier rifle.Must be stock shape and/or recoil pad

Gotta love those Tikka's. I've got one in 308. It's a great shooter.  ;D
