I wouldn't trade a Remington 700 for a Handi.

Timmo,

Which model 700 do you have and what caliber/chambering is it?

Timmo,

My feelings are that the 700 BDL is still worth at least what you paid for it if not more to some buyers. If it were my deal, I'd just buy a Handi in .204 and keep my nice 700. Then you would have two nice rifles. Just my opinion. Best of luck in whatever you end up doing.

i was going to trade with the guy but he didnt have it in yet its been a few weeks and i know how things are in this sport of shooting and reloading and how hard it is to come by stuff we need so here is the new deal he made me wait a few weeks and ill be getting a stimulus payment of 250.00 from uncle sam ill then add a few bucks and like you said have a nice 30/06 and a new .204 he will just have to wait , as it is i have a few like 26 rifles and shotguns all of which i reload for after taking an NRA reloading course in metalic reloading i learned so much there i signed up and took shot shell reloading thru NRA too , i really want to get out with my 25/06 savage and shoot some eastern wood chucks , as a farmer pays me 5.00 a piece for them to be rid of them in his fields i have taken  over 500 in one summer on his land and he has paid me for every one in cash all i do is show him the tails being disabled its how i spend my afternoons either shooting or fishing here in central new york state near Oxford ny

That sounds like a great plan Timmo.

And good luck on those woodchucks. Now that would be an excellent way to pass some time.

This is the better plan.

all advice has been listened to and taken to heart,,, ill not do the trade thing... i would be almost 300.00 out,,,,,,  the rem sells new  for around 789.00 and the H&R ultra varmint sells for around 300.00 give or take ,less than this if a dealer buys it? so all in all ill keep my 700 rem 30/06 buy the new ultra varmint .204 when uncle sam gives up the stimulus to disabled people then ill buy the .204 out right and search for reloading supplies to use it with  priomers are as scarce as teeth on a chicken in central new york state but i will keep a dilligent search going as long as i can when the micro stamping idea hits the last brick wall things will get back to normal    wont they ????? ill stock up on every thing i can with what little i have to live on social security disability keeps me starving and Remington and savage provide me with better meat than i can buy in the store  thanks to all for the many replies>?>>    timmo58
