G2 Problem
« on: March 20, 2009, 03:54:37 AM »
I purchased a G2 frame direct from Bullberry with a 1# trigger job.  Just got it last night and have a major problem.  I tried three different barrels on it.  All three shift side to side when locked on the frame to varying degrees.  I will not even attempt to shoot it that way.

Anyone know what the issue is?  I want to send the frame somewhere other than T/C without the barrels for correction.  The barrels fit fine on my other old style frames so I do not want them messed with.  Since all three barrels shift on this frame I am 100% convinced this is a frame only problem.

Any thoughts on whether this is correctable or will it need to be replaced?
Be honest with yourself.  Can you guarantee you would hit a paper plate at 250 yards...100 yards...50 yards?  Then you have no business replacing the plate with a live animal.

I don't understand the problem fully, but I would get on the phone with Bullberry ASAP.

T/C just called me and told me something I have not heard before...appreciate any comments.

The person who called said that she was told that the barrel locking bolts have to be split, silver, and the two protruding pins on the side of the bolts must be an integral part of the bolts.  Otherise, the older bolts would leave you with loose fit.  She said that prior to the G2 those pins appeared to be like mini-barbells and were inserted into holes on teh side of the bolts instead of being a part of a single casting.

I know that the much older one piece bolts were a problem on newer old style Contenders and would actually lock them up hard and make them imposibble to open without disassembly [don't ask how I know!].  I had no idea that the locking boolts changed again with the G2.  That means the locking bolts are on at least the third generation of bolt design.

Does this seem right to you experts?  I know getting it second hand from the T/C person who called me back...she was not a tech rep...was a bit confusing.  She did promise to send me 2 sets of the newest style to try on two of my barrels.  She said that if they work I will have to purchase any additional sets that I need so I can use my other barrels on my G2 frame.

I am bumming because one of the loose barrels already has the newest G2 style of locking lugs.  This will likely be a frame problem...not good.
