Added to the mil surp colection
« on: March 08, 2009, 04:10:48 PM »
Went by a local gun show on Sat. and saw a very nice Mosin Nagant 91/30 that just kept calling to me. It is a 1942 Izhevsk all the numbers match through out the gun. The wood is in very nice shape with only a few handeling marks and the bore is nice with sharp lands and groves. Now all I need for my WWII colection is an Arisaka, M1, and a Mauser. I think my Enfield is a littel jealous at the moment but I am sure over time that they will learn to get along.

Now I have the wonderful task of cleanning off all the cosmoline and stocking up on ammo. ;D

It sounds great!  What did you have to pay?

What Enfield do you have?

I paid $125 after tax with all of the accesories. It should be a fun shooter and hunting rifle.
My Enfield is a No4 Mk1* Savage the only thing I am missing for that gun is a sling but that hasnt been a priority.

I hunt with all of my Mil rifles they were built to kill stuff so why not ;D

Mitchels Mausers are not surplus rifles. They are new production rifles manufactured in Serbia.

Mitchell Mausers do not sell special new rifles made in Serbia.  They instead refinish them and use advertising that is very misleading.  They make the buyer think they received a hidden treasure that was tucked away in some attic unfired.  They are a refinisher of surplus. They were selling Yugo M48 Mausers and were advertising to make the customer believe they were German.  There is nothing wrong with what their selling, it's just the misleading advertising they use.  Most of their rifles could be made at home with some refinishing supplies, a rifle from one of the big importers, and a little time. It's much cheaper that way.  Century still has some Enfields with the stacking swivel, it's easily removed.
