Buy a HM2 if I can find one????Finaly found one!update
« on: January 24, 2009, 03:54:06 AM »
Would you buy a 17 HM2 if you could find one?
I have a NEF in 17HMR and realy like it but was thinking of getting a HM2 because of the ammo being cheaper.
The only down side I see is the HM2 ammo  getting a little harder to find. The local Wally World doesnt carry it any more. Does anyone know of a good place to pick up some HM2 ammo at a good price?
I dont mind stocking up on HM2 ammo if I can find a NEF to shoot it through.
Lets hear you opinions?
Thanks

I'd buy one if I didn't already have one, I'm glad I have it, it shoots as good, if not better than my 17hmr Sportster.  ;) The Ammo forums at RFC always have the latest best buys listed.

I agree with Tim. I would also buy another if I did not already have TWO. They are great shooting guns and I have no problem getting ammo for them.....<><....:)

Well I've been looking high and lowfor a NEF 17m2 and today I finaly found one. ;D It surprised me how many places said they had some and when they checked they were surprised the didnt anymore. :o
I called a little shop today thinking it probably was a waste of time and they had one!. I quickly drove there and after 25 minuets trying to locate it they found it. I had to pay a little more that I would have last year $175 vs $160 last year but I am happy. 8) ;D

I got a kick out of people trying to sell me a Savage or Marlin 17 HMR when they didnt have the NEF 17m2. I told them I alreay have a NEF in 17 HMR and they acted like I wasted my money. I told them I like to spend my money I saved on ammo.I love that gun. I dont have nothing against the other brands and I might buy a Savage HMR some day in the future. But my NEF 17 HMR  shoots great.

Now its time to stock up on some ammo for it. Cheapest price I found local if they even carry it is $6.99 for Hornady. How fussy are the NEF 17M2s on ammo brands and whats been working for you guys with your m2s?
Thanks

There is one at a shop locally here.  I have been thinking about scooping it up just because they won't be making them anymore.

Eley shoots the best in mine hands down! I tried Remington, Hornady, & CCI along with the Eley.

I bought 2 NEF hm2's at the local Bass Pro this fall  for $119 each on closeout.  I really love those little guns.  They shoot great.  As far as ammo, one of the local dealers has a website that is run through Davidson's.  Last week's weekly special had Remington ammo for $3.91/box.  I had to buy a bunch. I should have bought more at that price regardless if I like the Hornady's better.

The Eley primed Remington ammo shoots real good in my 17M2 Sportster.  ;)

For what it's worth, I found two new 17 mach 2s today at Gator's Guns and Archery in West Palm Beach, FL.  They were priced $199.99.  I was going to buy one but could not due to the Palm Beach County 5 day waiting period.  I was visiting in town this weekend.  I hope someone buys them.  The guy at the counter said he was thinking about reaming them to accept 17HM.

Its a bit hi priced.. but with them being hard to find not prohibitively so. I would buy it!!

Mine is the most accurate rimfire rifle I have ever fired. You will LOVE IT!!!  I have to try this eley stuff.. Althou its down right scary to think it could get any more accurate!!!

Found mine on Gun Broker.  Got nice rifle at a fair price.  Have bought Burris Z rings and will soon be ordering a scope.  I am looking forward to shooting this one.
