Finally got the Cherokee to shoot!
« on: March 15, 2009, 05:04:05 AM »
I picked up a Cherokee 45 cal a while back at a gun show, hoping to have a nice light ball gun. Well, that TC barrel is miserable with balls! No luck there. I tried Dick Dastardly's EPP-UG bullets with much better results,at least at 50 yards. 50gr. FFg keeps those mostly touching out to 50. But at 100 they're all over the place. Then I remembered an old Lyman mine' bullet mould I had, that throws a .454" bullet. I cast up some of those, sized them to .450, and lo and behold I am getting palm sized groups at 100M! Yee  haw, the little rifle will shoot. Not too useful for rondys though, but it'd make a good deer shooter. And I could get around 8 shots before  I needed to clean it.
