Refinishing gone bad

But I LIKE it!!!  ;D  ;D ;D I've had this old 12 gauge Pardner SB1 for a few years now and for some strange reason the factory "stain" was literally peeling/flaking off the wood. I wanted to paint it black but decided to do a traditional refinishing job. About half way thru I decided that was way too much trouble for an inexpensive shotgun so fellow Greybearder (literally) Moose and I painted it flat black. Here are the results!

I did the exact same process except I painted mine OD and I love it.

Got any pics of the OD green? That was my first inclination but I went with flat black at the last minute. I may have to buy another and paint it a different color ;D

 I like the flat black. My friend has a 3.5" 12ga NEF that he bought new with semi-gloss black wood and a recoil pad. That looks good too.

I wonder if it would have looked good stained black...?Think I'll try it on my cooey 16ga.thanks for lightin' up thee olde lightbulb tho... :)

not to sure of ebony or black stain but I have thought about using a light gray stain in an attempt to duplicate the color of the gray laminates, a nice color to match the the late fall and early winter woods....<><....:)

Mr Andy, I bet a light gray stain would be nice, Black Widow recurves have a color on there bows they call gray bark( stained gray laminates), it looks great.

Yes Sir, I have seen some of those Black Widow bows and they are very nice to look at. I believe though that the individual laminations are stained first and then put together. You are correct. I think a gray stained wood would looks great. ( BTW i have 3 Black widow bows,1 Black, 1 Camo and 1 Clear coat over natural dark/light wood combo's---great hunting bows)
