Where is the ammo?
« on: March 16, 2009, 06:14:46 PM »
Just a thought about possibly where all the ammo is going.  We have all heard that the ammo manufacturers have doubled and tripled production.  Yet we are not seeing ammo show up on store shelves.  Oh some is showing up, such as the short mags, and the old off the wall stuff.  But stuff like .223, .308, 7.62X39, 9MM, .38SPL, .45ACP, these are the stuff not showing up at the stores.  Could that be the stuff being confiscated at the border with Mexico.  Money talks and the drug cartels have the money.  Could they be buying directly from the manufacturers, or from their first distributors?  Combine that with hording and no ammo on the shelves.

Just my thoughts.  Another case for the Obama administration to go after ammo manufacturers.
Where is old Joe when we really need him?  Alaska Independence    Calling Illegal Immigrants "Undocumented Aliens" is like calling Drug Dealers "Unlicensed Pharmacists"
What Is A Veteran?
A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.

I do not believe that massive orders or being filled for shipment to Mexico. it would be tooo hard to conceal yet I am sure there are some buyers getting some stuff in more minor amounts at a time that will go to Mexico.

The claims of the News and Mexico that we are furnishing the weapons and ammunition to fuel the drug war are just bull. They have many sources of all the weapons they want that are non traceible and many counties will happily furnish all they want .

That is just a load of crap designed to give them a forum to beat the drum for stricter gun laws in the US. As far as U&S M16's and the like most were probably furnished to the Mexican Army  or some other country and through the worlds gun dealers found their way to Mexico.

Dumb a^*!
That's 29,000 rounds of 22lr.
He will never live long enough to shoot it all.

In the mean time when they come for him it will be only him standing against them.
His neighbors won't be able to help him.
They have no ammo because he decided to hord it all !!!

Come on people, build up a good supply but don't forget the ones you will depend on to help you when you need them.

We have all had plenty of time to stock up.

How about some 380 auto? It is scarce, the local gun dealer says its a scame by the manufactuers, trying to up the price by causing a percieved shortage. He claims the same with AR type rifles, with 20 some odd manufactuers and they can't keep up, he claims its BS.

Here in the Grand Rapis area in Michigan there is a place that always seems to have ammo,  don't know where they are getting it,  but they have cases of it yet and it goes up on the shelves pretty fast.  I notice there is a lot of it made in mexico too,  although I have not bought any of that yet.  .22 caliber rimfire is pretty slim in a lot of places though, for some reason .22's are being scooped up real fast.  They are leaving Remington .22's on the shelves till last though, whatever that means.  Internet buying is not good at all,  most of that is on backorder and all out of stock.  BTW...CCW's are way up in Michigan for the past months,  they had that on the news, in the papers and on the radio.  The CCW classes are chuck full all the time.

I think CWPs are up in about every state.

Here in VA we have open carry law.
People keep asking when I am going to get my CWP and my reply is, why should I.
I can walk into a bank with it strapped on my side, as long as it is in plain view, but you can't with a CWP.
Sure I will be harassed, but there is nothing they can do about it, as long as it is a legal gun and I don't make any threaten moves or act stupid.

I figure if I have it concealed than a perp might try to rob me, not knowing I am carrying.
If it's in plain view and he still try's then he is either a fool or a nut.

My buddy and my self have been through many road checks before with loaded hand guns laying on the seat in plain view.
We always tell them as soon as they walk up that we have a loaded handgun on the seat.

Most of the time all they say is, "JUST KEEP YOUR HANDS WHERE THEY CAN SEE THEM".

Sometimes they ask what caliber we are carrying.
Most of them are cool with it.
Seems like they really like a person who carries a 45 colt! :D

We have even been asked to be on standby in case they need backup a time or two.

Va is still pretty keen on the second ammendment!   SO FAR!!!
