I used to live in the high desert, as a matter of fact my airgun coyote was taken out in the Lucern Valley. I still have a small holding in the high desert on the north slope of the San Gabriel Mountains. There are tons of song dogs there, but I normally hunt them with a .223. Head up to the Angeles National Forest or out on BLM land, you can hunt there. A rabbit distress call works well, then pull them in close with a mouse squeeker. One of the things I miss about California is all the public land to hunt!
