Pretty good advice so far. I think that it depends on the case diameter and pressures seen - also. Stubs are generally in the .8 inch range in diameter. If you can feel safe with a T/C Contender barrel, a stub would be about the same - as long as the barrel put into the stub is .8" or bigger. So the 30-30 case family would be OK as long as you do not exceed 30-30 pressures, a 45-70 (kept to normal 45-70 pressures) would be OK, but a 308, 270, 30-06 would not be; but they are too much for the Contender too. Of course the 222 Remington family of cases should be OK too. A 35 Remington would be OK ( aslong as it kept to normal pressures) as would most pistol cases - but not all. Some of the newer higher intensity cases ( like the 460, 480, 454, etc) would not be suitable for stubbing - IMHO. Good Luck and Good Shooting
