Point Blank Vision and S.P.I.D.E.R. As a rule body armor is not breathable. Moisture weakens the ability to stop bullets. So the coating against your skin is waterproof. You sweat pretty bad in them. I use an off brand under armor shirt to help a little better than a cotton t shirt. Probably about twice as good as cotton. It is still easy to get over heated if you are being active. If you intend to wear it it's a good idea to increase cardio exercise since these will sap your energy quickly due to over heating. They are designed to fit snugly so there is no air circulation to your skin.

It's uncomfortable stuff. The issue is more protection / more discomfort vs less protection / less discomfort. Everyone has to make his own decision, but bear a couple of things in mind: about 10x more people are shot with .38 Specials and below than are shot with .41 magnums and above. Also, if you don't wear it, it doesn't do you any good.

The temptation is to buy too much protection; then it just sits in your closet.

 Sorry, I did not mean to imply that I bought any of them. I have worn them for a number of years. The point blank is the most comfortable I have had to wear. We got ours from Galls. They came down and fit us then sent them later. I think what makes the pb more comfortable is the lack of steel or ceramic trauma plate. There is just a removable panel made out of the vest material.
