Sako Forrester what's it worth

I have a buddy that is selling a beautiful Sako Forrester in .308. It is in 90% condition. Not sure of the year it was made. Anyone know a fair price?  Approximately when it was made?  I've never owned one, but they are obviously well-made. Thanks

 I have a 1966 Forester 243, I bought it a few years ago for $740 with accessories. It's close to mint. From another site they listed that if the sn: is below 118961 it was a pre Garcia import. Not that it is much help to you. I would say check a few listing prices on Gunbroker to get an idea. Of course they may not be selling at the listed price.

Thanks. All of my reference books are several years old. I will check it out. How do you like your .243 by the way? Is it a good shooter?

 Sorry but I just gave it a good once over & into the safe it went. Last Fall I did most of my deer hunting in IL of all places. That leaves one to shotgun & ML. I will shoot it sometime. It came with a 1960's Redfield scope. I also have a mint Sako 75 hunter in 243.

Well, I just saw his rifle on the consignment rack at the gunstore. He wants $859.00. Looks like I let one get away!

 If you want it all is not lost. It's a slow time, you could see if it sells for awhile & if not talk over a price with him & have him take it off cosignment. He'll save the gun shop cut right away & you can be below that a ways. Just an idea. I don't think it is unfair to the shop after they get a chance to sell it.
