As Kelly Bundy would have so aptly expressed it.... "Urethra, I have found it !!!" To make wood sabots for use in my golfball bore half scale Napoleon I have been cutting the blanks with a Vermont American brand 1 7/8" hole saw. It gives me a blank that is just slightly oversize which I then lathe turn to the proper size. Decided to try a Milwaukee brand 1 7/8" bi-metal hole saw mounted on a mandrel that had the pilot drill removed. Oh wow !!! A very smooth cut in 3/4" pine plus the plug is easily removed without having to disassemble the saw. The best part though is that the as cut blank is just the right size to use without any size adjustment !!! Sure does make things a bit easier.
