I took the CCW class here in KS... I voted against our popular governor because she vetoed the law the first time it was passed...

I certainly own plenty of guns, i've posted pictures of me using them ;)

I just don't link ideologically driven arguements that don't match reality... This one really is more about semantics, but just the same, I won't be wrong to support an ideology... An ideology that requires you to be wrong needs rethinking...

And I still think this is really a dumb debate.

Asking for or suggesting a finite answer to a relative question usually does make for a dumb debate.

This thread had turned into a debate as to weather a gun is or is not an inanimate object. Agian, I agree that is not worth the effort.

.45-70,
The fact sheets you posted are interesting and informative.  I think they DO dispel many popular misconceptions about the lawful possession and use of firearms and related activities.  Thanks for posting.  In the past, when refuting anti-gun and anti-hunting editorials or articles, I have quoted NSC and similar statistics which compare firearm and hunting accident rates to other activities.  A lot of people who have little knowledge of firearms or their safe and lawful use do have unfounded and/or inaccurate perceptions related to firearms.  I  meet and converse with people like that frequently.  The statistics you posted support an effective counterpoint.  Good post.
The intent of your question (topic) - "are guns dangerous?" was clear, but that's one of those questions.......

The nurse at the ER asked me (with a nail thru my thumb) how did you do that?

I told her "It took three good hits to get it all the way thru!" duh!

When a question like "Are guns dangerous?" is asked, I'd question anyone who dismisses the conversation as worthless when it is pointed out that guns are inanimate and that it takes a deliberate series of human actions to make a gun dangerous.  Who dismisses obvious truth?

Further, I'd question the motivation of persons who introduce differing substances and gun-like objects in comparison and then force the conclusion that guns are dangerous simply because one or more of the objects mentioned could be dangerous in the state they mention, which has nothing to do with guns.

 :)
They may talk of a "New Order" in the  world, but what they have in mind is only a revival of the oldest and worst tyranny.   No liberty, no religion, no hope.   It is an unholy alliance of power and pelf to dominate and to enslave the human race.
