I have MORE fun with a variety of bullet designs. Some light weight low velocity for new shooters. A couple mid to heavy weight for hunting and a real heavy one for target work off sticks. The only ONE OF I have is a wife (some times I think that is too many).

I rather like jhalcott's concept but prefer to apply it to guns, with each having it's specific load which is never changed and the sights never moved for playing with other loads.  If its a lever gun, this is even more important than with bolt guns, because poi relitive to sights changes dramatically with any change in power or bullet weight.  -  As for the only one wife thing.  I've been using the same one for 48 years, and she seems impossible at times, but most of the time she seems impossible to get along without.  Especially now that she has been diagnosed with kidney failure and told that she won't be alive for another year.  Right now I can smile with true kindness and love her so she knows it, even when she is mad as a hornet over something.  (It doesn't take a whole lot of pressure to be too much when one is ill.)
Remember guys, the first wife is the best one.  If you are on a second or third, treat her like she is the first and the last.  If she gets mean over your stupidity, appreciate it, she's just trying to make you so she can be proud to have your name.  -  I've been able to do that much of the time, which is enough that my lady will follow me through fire, if I can keep ahead of her.  Consider this a little boquet to her, in hopes that it will inspire a few other couples to cherish what you have while you have it.

But I digress! -- The 45-70 post.  GET a 400 gr LFN.  Use it with jhalcotts mentality, but in your four rifles with my mentality.    Mark your loads so they don't get mixed up, with the various colors of felt pens on the bullets being a good way.  Take your pick on how you load each, but one hot as it will go without leading, but 1600 fps is adaquate for any game on the north american continent. While as slow as 800 fps will be very accurate and take down rats sparrows or knock a 2000 pound beef to it's knees as quick as a 458 with full load.  Heavier and blunter, i.e. your 450 gr WFN, will not stabilize well at slow speeds and espeically with extended ranges, while it has more meplate and needed for big game or small.

Since my shoulder is about half wrecked, I try to avoid heavy recoil as much as possible.  To that end, Veral made me a two cavity mould for my Marlin 45-70 Cowboy model that casts between 350 and 357 grainers depending on alloy.  This does wonderfully on deer at 1180 fps...100 yards is about max for distance.  Using 40 grains of Blackhorn 209 and a harder alloy, I got a bit over 1400 fps with very good accuracy.  Recoil is a good bit stiffer so I use one of those recoil absorbing contraptions to develop loads and a Shooters Buddy recoil pad for practicing shooting from hunting positions and for hunting.  I also use IMR 3031 and a bit of cream of wheat to get into the 1400 fps range.  For light loads, I go with round balls and a dab of WW231 or Bullseye.  You can get nearly silent loads with either of these powders and 450 to 500 grain cb's...And you can see them fly way, way farther than you expect.  In other words, you're advised to take them seriously even tho they only pop when you pull the trigger.  Whichever way you go, have fun!
Never said I didn''t know how to use one.

Thanks for the prayers guys.  Supernatural power is available when true believers offer them up.  When we don't seriously believe it, our prayers are an empty noise.  Read carefully what I'm going to tell you, believe it seriously, and if you can't believe it, fine, just ponder it daily, and want it.  Someday, when life offers you more than you can handle, when there is no other alternative, call and He will answer.

My wife Judy, who I spoke of above, died from a liver problem in 1998.  I begged The Almighty God for her life back again, not because I believed she would come back to life but out of agony and desperation.    But our Father heard!  All of a sudden she asked, "Why are you crying?"  I answered, in total amazement. "You were dead!"  I had just listened to her heart stop and watched her do the final death tremors.

Judy suffered horrible things while I was away from prison, starting the year after she was given back.  Because of her extreme suffering, I promised God that I would never beg for her life again, though I asked for her healing MANY times and always received it.  One of the most serious requests was for a concussion, caused by a 4X8 beam, 7 foot long falling on her head.  After I got out of prison, she was poisoned by a government enemy of ours who got into our house while we were both gone and planted poison that took her kidneys out.  She faded from  August till just before Christmas that year, which was about 4 years ago, and had shrunk to a mere skeleton.  On the last day of that illness, she lay on her bed, with her eyes rolled back in her head, unable to hear me, with no visable sign of breathing, pulse so weak I couldn't feel it and the death tremors again, I sat down beside her and said these words.  (As you read them, remember my oath to the Almighty that I would not beg for her life again.)  "Thank you Father for the time you have given me with Judy.  If it's your time to take her, do it, and I'll serve you without her like I promised."  INSTANTLY she revived and was hungry!  She ate so well that she regained the 30 pounds she had lost in 6 weeks!

This time, the kidney failure is again from poisoning, same as before.  But the two of belong to the Almighty.  Maybe your prayers and mine are helping her, as she is far better now than she was last fall, though not perfectly well.  But I am undaunted by what things appear to be.  I was staggering a bit when I wrote those lines above, because we had just got the Docs ultimatum, or death sentence, if you will.

These are three big ones, but smaller things are as much a miricle as raising from the dead, especially if they prevent death, and I've recieved hundereds of answers for all kinds of illness and injury.  Last summer an aquaintence who was in coma for almost a month was able to  talk immediately after I asked for his healing.

I'm dead serious when I say thank you for your prayers.  But do a lot of it for everyone you know who has trouble.  I hope my stories give you enough faith that you see even more results than I have.  Remember that our Father respects you as much as he does me.

A customer friend wrote saying that he hadn't made a promise to not beg for my wifes life, so he would pray.  Then I realized that what I wrote above may be a little deceiving.

I didn't vow not to ask for her health, and God has healed her multiple times since, when death was eminent.  The vow was, once I know she is dead, I won't ask for her back as I did that first time.

Soak that statement into your mind carefully and meditate on it often.  With that think about how a persons belief that he cannot be healed can prevent anothers prayer from being answered.  Christ had this problem in his home country, because they knew him as 'The Carpenters son".  Once death releases the spirit back to God, the prayer recipient has no more input on the results of a Christians prayer.  It is just him and God.  So, if the spirit comes on you to pray for a dead person, you can very likely have better results than if his doubts were in the way.  Ditto for animals, alive or dead, as they have no resistence either way.

I'm not blowing smoke here, but am just stateing what Christ said very clearly.  Cast out demons, heal the sick, raise the dead. -- What do you think he meant when he told the prospective apostle, who requested that he go bury his dead relitive before he began to follow Christ.  Jesus said, Let the dead bury the dead. -- Over and over he said that his followers would 'have life and have it more abundently', and that without His spirit within them, all are dead in trespasses and sins.  His followers, who are one with him and with the Father, can call back the spirit of the dead becaue it is in Gods hands as soon as it leaves the body.

No person taught me the above, and I've never known anyone else who even believes it.  I learned what the word of God clearly says be reading and studying it diligently while in prison, AND BY TRYING AND PROVING IT TRUE!  --- Ponder it often, remembering that God is not a respecter of persons.  When the time of need comes, if you are totally given to Christ, his spirit will take over, you'll ask the impossible, probably even wondering why you are saying what you are, and it will happen, to your own amazement!

This power working through true believers will be needed a lot more than most ameriicans realize in the very near future.  I'd rather know I had convinced one person to believe this than to help arm a thousand with firearms, and none of them have the power of Christ within.

Don't bother asking the pope, mary, buda or any other cast or carved god.  There is only one who sends out the spirits of life and has them all return to him.

Romans 10:17 says "Faith cometh by hearing,  and hearing by the word of God.  -- I wrote this so you'd hear a little bit of my experiance, for the express purpose of bringing you faith.  If you read the whole chapter above you'll learn that is not speaking about hearing by the bible which we call the word of God, but by preachers telling their experiances, long before the bible was written.  This letter to the Romans was just a letter, written prior to the new testament, which was made a part of it years later.  If you ponder often on what I've told you it will bring you faith.  Faith which will bring divine intervention in the worst of times when there is no other hope.
Veral Smith
