I have been messing around with the shooting of black powder since around 1953 when I was buying DuPont BP in the small oval red metal cans.  Up until yesterday, I never realized that in addition to 1FG through 4FG, we also have 1.5FG powder available.  That's one and a half FG.  This was seen on a certain website catalog.  Wonder if there is actually much call for this particular grade of BP.  I wouldn't think it'd make that much difference when using it to shoot cannon or mortars.  Anyone here use 1.5FG grade??

Did the website catalog give any applications for this grade of powder? Kind of an in-between grade; lower pressure? I've never heard of it.

The only 1 1/2 Fg I am aware of is made by Swiss Powder and it works great in my 577/450 Martini. Swiss powder in the applications that I have used them are cleaner burning.  

I have not felt a need to use Swiss in cannons.  The higher cost of Swiss aside, I am swabbing between shots so fouling is not as big an issue.
