I own the perfect gun...
« on: March 18, 2009, 03:56:29 PM »
I have a G2, with three Bullberry 16.25" barrels, One in 22 mag for squirrels, 223 for yote, fox, and ground hog, and 44 mag for Pennsylvania deer.  On the action, I have a Choate folding stock which allows the gun to be stored in a 22" discrete case, that makes it easy to transport on my motorcycle.  On the 22mag, I have a 4x12 AO Leopold VXll, on the 223, I have a VXll 3x9, on the 44, I have a 1x4 VXll.

To me, it's THE perfect gun.  It's small, light, and accurate.  It's even better than the saying...  "beware the man with only one gun".  It's one gun, but with greater capabilities.

Just wanted to share that with people that would appreciate it...  :+)

Now you just need to add a 375 JDJ for elephant and you'll be set.

Pretty nice combination.  If you had to give two of them up, and only keep one, which would you keep.

On second thought, I don't want to stress you out, you can keep'em all.

Actually, it's funny you should mention that... (about giving up the guns)

I work with a guy that I'll call,,, eccentric.   okay, maybe a little paranoid...  But the more time goes on, the less he looks paranoid and the more he looks correct.

If guns should be taken away at some time in the future, I'm assuming that handguns will be early on the list.  And my pets here, will be considered handguns, right?

Anyone else here worried?  or am I hanging out with the wrong crowd. ( My mother always warned me...)

Worried?  Why should I worry?  I mean, it's not like they're going to do something stupid, like kill the milsurp brass market.  Or pass an ex post facto law singling out a particular group.   >:(

My recent purchases have all been nondescript chunks of aluminum, no paperwork necessary.

So, let me ask you guys this...

Does the law say...  If I buy a contender frame from an individual, do I need to register it as a handgun?

Got an extra metal?

That would depend on the state you live in.  If you live in a state with handgun registration and the frame was previously registered as a handgun frame then the answer would be yes.

I just bought my first contender, I have a 22 hornet barrel in the mail, and will be ordering a 30-30 and 45-70 barrel.  Hornet for predator calling and varmits, 30-30 for blacktail deer and 45-70 for Roosevelt elk and black bear. This will be my back up gun if anything happens to my 35 whelen pump.

I'm turning 50 this summer and I am finding that the older I get the more I am enjoying my 2 original frame T/C Contender carbines.

mray I now have 6 barrels for them so I am seeing a few more barrels in your life one day... :D

16.5" custom shop tapered s/s 22LR match chamber 10 shot 1 hole clusters @ 25 yard with CCI SGB's

21" factory tapered s/s 223 40gr V-Max @ 3380fps = 1 1/2" 300 yard 3 shot groups

21" factory tapered s/s 30-30 rechambered to 308 X 444 (it has a name but I can't post it here) 150gr bullets = 2620fps

21" factory tapered s/s 375 Win resently rechambered to 375JDJ 250gr Gameking = 2300fps (working up 260gr Accubond loads right now should be able to get 2300fps) 2" 3 shot groups @ 200 yards

18.5" custom shop tapered blued 10mm 1" groups with everything I shoot fin it @ 25 yards

I'm thinking to complete my collection I would also like to get a 6mm wildcat that can push 55gr bullets to 3200fps (if possible) for predator hunting and 90gr Scirroco's to 2600 - 2700fps for deer just need to do some research to figure out what cartridge will do this for me... :D
