Ruger #1 RSI fore end question
« on: April 13, 2009, 02:15:35 PM »
Is the RSI full-length fore-end attached with the same single screw as the Beaver and Alex Henry fore ends. I'm just wondering if the extra length would cause any problems, such as with durability or accuracy, unless the front was secured as well as in the rear, especially if there is any torque or twisting from using the sling. Just wondering.
You only take one shot at a time, so don't waste it :cb2:

I've never taken my .30-06 RSI apart, but I have no concerns about sling twist - since I only use one as a carry strap - never as a shooting aid.

This is a sighting-in target, with two separate 100yd groups, shot with factory ammo while zeroing a new scope.
(The target rings are 1" apart)

This rifle's had nothing "done" to it, except had a scope mounted.

As can be seen, by the time the second group was being fired, the barrel had warmed enough to start stringing shots vertically, even throwing the 4th shot in that group higher - not a concern to me, either, since no game animal is going to stick around for a three-shot group.

Horseman3,
The  # 1 RSI forend is attached with the same type screw and the same way as any of the other forends, plus at the front with the muzzle cap. I have one in 30-06 and it will consistently shoot 1.5 inch 5 shot groups at 100 yds., very good for this type of hunting rifle,  Rangr44 is correct, you cant shoot a group on a Deer, I just shoot 5 shot groups because I like to shoot and it gives me an idea what it will do when cold and/or hot.
