i am going to be looking at a model 10 later today and want to know how to figure out it's birth date.  it is a nickel plated bull barrel.  that is all i know about it at this time.

The only effective way of determining the date of manufacture for a Smith is by serial number.  There are several books on the market that provide this information,  I did see it on a web site too but don't remember where.  Might use your search and see if you can locate a web site that gives the date by serial number.

I would like that website as well.  I have been unable to locate one and have not got around to getting a book yet.
