Call in the SWAT

... And then wait for an hour while people could be dieing.  I don't pretend to have military or law enforcement training but it seems the Binghamton trajedy was over in minutes with 13 victims dead or dieing while the armor clad police force was hiding behind cars instead of saving lives.  Is this SOP???  Or am I wrong?

They need to hire cops with some stone. oh we held back while the unarmed die.. that policman in NC that went into the nusreing home and ended the situation. Some time you have to act even when you don't hold all the cards

The courts have already determined that is is NOT the job of the police to protect you or to try to save your life. Their only job is to mob up afterward and investigate to determine who the guilty party is so the DA can file charges against them.

There really should be no such thing as a SWAT based on that and how they behave in such situations. They really are only training for that day when they are given the go ahead to begin collectiing all those firearms own by Americans.

It was almost 2 years ago, when the shooting at Virginia Tech occurred.  There is some TV footage that stands out in my memory. 
There were male and female law enforcement people on the scene.  They were crouched behind trees and cars, while there were shots being fired from inside the building.
To be honest, I can not claim I would have have been brave or heroic under the same circumstances.  Luckily, I have not faced such a situation.
But I expected better than that from law enforcement officers.

Aren't they supposed to take an oath;  Something like "To protect & serve?"  Who are they protecting & serving?

I believe that "Law-Enforcement" says it all.  Their only duty is to enforce the laws of the state.

They have no legal obligation to put themselves in danger to protect any individual member of society from harm.

Aren't you glad they're armed and on the payroll?
