Howdy to y'all.  I guess the weather must be great, just by the fact that it is now 1/4 to 11 am and nobody has posted for the day.  I suppose it was chug that last swalla of coffee down and then rush out the door.

Yesterday, my girlfriend wanted to go shooting again so we went up to this place we found in the the Beavertail area.  She struggled with the shooting yesterday, but she pulled it together at the end.  To be honest, I want to change the triggers on all the guns here.  I reckon, the shooting will improve quite a bit.

On Sunday, I took her oldest son(13), shooting at the Deep Creek Range.  It was his first time shooting a high power rifle.  He was shooting the Howa/Hogue 270 that I gave to his mom and him.  His first  shot with a high power rifle, drilled the bullseye at 50 yards.  His next two shots touching each other about 1/2 from his first shot in the bulls eye. To think that one week ago, he had never fired any rifle before.  He has shot his brothers new to him Rem 582 22 riffle two trips for a total of about 50 rounds.  At the range, he shot 20 rounds in the 270 at distances of 50, 100 and 200 yards.  At 200 yards, he had a 4 shot 4 inch group around the bullseye.  Oh' and last night he started his hunters education course.

I fired three shots in the 270 at 200 yards with 150 gr sierra gamekings.  I netted a 3 shot 1.75 inch group.  I fired a box of ammo in my 444.  I wasnt impressed with my results at 100 yrds.  Im thinking that the factory sights have got to go.  I need to work on that trigger as well.  Im thinking the wild west trigger upgrade.

I realy need to find a place to get some gophers.  They are mocking me everywhere I go.  They stand upright on their mounds just taunting me.  They are evil.

Anyways, you all have a great day.

Gotta git'me a bigger ice box

Good morningMT_Sourdough, Montanan, dpe, Southpaw, Forster, Atlaw, pab1, newstart2k, Skunk, kitchawan kid, lurker, CJ, Bilmac, thxmrgarand, Syncerus, Mcwoodduck, Brennemanj83, Old Shooter and TY22.

Beautiful clear blue sky, no wind and 47 degrees, perfect gopher shooting day and the truck is in shop getting it's 100,000 mile tune up.  I told the wife we should buy some small sedan for doing town errands and she said on days like this I would just drive it out inthe gopher patch and tear the muffler off...mufflers can be fixed.  ;D

Goal today is to get the lathe set up.  Wish me luck.

Good Morning Montana!

We have a nice clear blue sky today in NE Wisconsin, but it is still cold and windy.

Good shooting and fun there Mt. Sourdough.

Good luck to you Double D on the lathe setup.

You folks have a great one in Montana today.

Boy , what a Great Day !  ;D
Warm , little to no wind . Clear skies , perfect day to enjoy .
Jack and I loaded up to make a parts run , Spent the day roaming the country side . Off to County Seat for banking business , mortuary business , Hospital business, visited mother (96 , 97 on the 29th of htis month )
Paid bill @ Carquest , priced parts , off to the west . Bought belts for tractor , on to (Don't tell DD ) Cutbank , Parts @ Glacier Motors , to Bowling alley for ammo for Mortar (12 balls)  Targets , 24 pins , Over to gun shop ....opps a new T-Bolt Browning 17HMR and scope mounts got loaded in truck , Stop @ Micky D's for a icecream cone , gas up @ $2.059 , head home the back roads . Had my Ruger Charger along for targets of opportunity , Lots of targets aka Gophers  along back roads .... Gave them a pass till I hit the back road out in the oil field . , Decided I need new scope for the Charger... home by 5 pm . Goose and Owl still in a stand off over the nest on the pond . Owl decided it was a better place to nest rather than the leaning spruce tree of last year.  Had a bowl of beans and decided to take a quick look up the road for a few more gophers . Took the Marlin 17HMR  , better know as "Never Miss "  Jack and I got to eye ball 4 antelope by the grain bins where the gophers hang out . They decided to vamoose over the hill so one gopher decided to test "never miss " .... One less Gopher ... Jack got to do a half hearted "head crunch" on the looser of the gene pool  cleanup.  Headed home in to the sun , 2 nice whitetails along the road just south of house.  As I drove in the yard noticed a Muskrat in the open water along the edge of pond so gave it the 17 never miss treatment . Jack took  a skinny dip out and retrieved it . First Muskrat of the season , and first I have seen in the pond for several years.  We had a few dry years and the pond dried up . Muskrats moved on to wetter area.
As it was geting dark I took a picture of the moon , the flag pole and the hills , a lovely close to a perfect day .....
Now to get the pictures up .... Just too lazy  after this perfect day out in Gods country .....  :)
