How does the A bolt have a detachable magazine and a hinged floor plate?  It either has a magazine or a hinged floor plate, it cannot have both.  Larry

the hinged floorplate has the magazine attached to it, and you can pop it off to load it or carry it separately.

I to find detachable mags on a bolt action to be a sin (my Savage 340 has one and I curse that system :)), but if it will stay in place (ie, removal is optional) then that should work ok.  The Savage more or less has to have the mag removed to be reloaded which is what really irks me.

As to the A-Bolt, I personally have never shot one, but a buddy of mine has a left-hand model (.270 WSM I think, but I can't remember for sure) that his wife got him for Christmas last year, and I can say it's a mighty sharp looking gun.  I know that personally between the two, I'd probably get the Browning.

I will probably go with the weatherby -  the detachable magazine is a real show stopper for me on a bolt action (to each his own)

;D  Have only owned a couple Weatherby rifles, now I don't  have a one. :-\ I have bought only one Browning A bolt, my .22 Hornet. Frankly I like it very much.
I like the lift of the Abolt and in my Hornet it is very accurate. It has the same magazine you mention. That is the biggest minus I have with this little rifle. Of the two, I would take the Browning, but then I have neve been a Weatherby rifle fan. ;)
