Another Savage 24
« on: March 03, 2009, 12:02:35 PM »
I traded for a Savage 24J - DL yesterday, took it to the range today.  It's a .22 Magnum/20 Ga.  I wasn't able to find the exact model listed in the Blue Book.  It was camo painted for use as a turkey gun and was retired from that use.  It doesn't look too good, but it shoots very well considering the trigger is not too good.

I put a 1-1/2 to 5X scope on it and took it to the range.  When I went around 4:00 the weather was sunny, temp around 18 deg., wind 10 to 15 mph, rather unpleasent for range work since the bench was in the shadows.  That makes for cold hands very fast.  After sighting in at 50 yd., I shot for group at 75 yd.  Would you believe a 15/16" 3-shot group?  I couldn't either but that's what I got.

Well I've got to go and finish thawing out!

Oops,  I was sin such a hurry to post that I forgot to mention that the shotgun barrel actually is pointing where the rifle barrel is!  In my experience that doesn't always happen!
