May be a long shot, but I have a T/C Pro Hunter 28", SS, Fluted 209X50 barrel "with sights".  I want to install a Nikon Omega 3X9X40 scope and "leave the factory iron glow sights on it".

I am going to use the DNZ Dednutz one piece scope mount (have one on my 280 rem barrel) and need to know which height (med, high, high+) will ensure that the scope's "bell" clears the rear sight. Anyone have this combination?

Thanks
Ed

I have a Burris 3x-9x with medium Dednutz rings.  Had to remove the rear sight.  I think even "high" mount would require you remove rear sight.  It's only 2 screws and you can use the plugs from the scope mount holes to fill the rear sight holes.  My barrel is on it's way back.  It shot fine with open sights, but with the scope I'm out of verticle adjustment and still 6" low.  Stringing the bore shows the barrel is bent down (.060" gap between the rifling and the string at the top of the bore).

Thanks abcjohn

I'm going to try and leave the sites on with the scope..I have seen a couple of them set up that way. Don't have the Omega yet..but have a few months to figure it out.

2 questions. Why so concerned about removing the sites? High mounts and or rings, invite more problems. It's been my experence to get the scope down on the barrel as close as possible. I would rather keep an extra scope ready to go. But, my vision is very poor.

Are you that sold on the Nikon. Check out this Leupold. It is plenty of scope for a ML. + it's cheaper then what your looking at. They also have a 3x9 a little cheaper then this 2x7.

I just picked up a used one on e-bay for 125. Wouldn't worry about a used Leupy. I do a hot and freeze test on them to make sure they won't fog. If they do, send it in for a fix or replace. No questions asked. I've bought 3 used one's with no issue's.
