7mm TCU
« on: October 12, 2003, 04:28:58 PM »
I just aquired a 10" 7mm TCU barrel for my Contender. I would appreciate any information on componet selection and the processes involved in reloading this cartridge. The uses will be primarily at the range; targets, and developing an accurate load. Thanks.

It depends how much you want to spend and how much work you want to do.  I use range brass .223, free, more work.  I lube the necks, inside, with mica or neck lube then run it through the fl size die.  I only set the die down far enough to drop the case in and have it absolutely flush with the barrel.  Take out the extractor or use a nail set to hold it down.  The prime charge and seat.  Try to seat the bullet a could thou off the lands.  The gun should sound the same closing empty or with a loaded round.  Use close to max for fireform load.  I use whatever is cheapest at the time.  It will take 110-168 gr with problem.  But I shoot the 168 in my 14 not a 10.  120s are supposed to work good.  Email with questions  Dan
Gun control is shooting 40x40!

Thanks for the information. I recently picked up the barrel and then 100 rds of brass ready to go, so have eliminated alot of the steps involved in creating accurate ammunition. Sadly it appears I'll be putting this project on the back burner for awhile.
