New Marlin Lever 45/70
« on: April 11, 2009, 02:39:09 AM »
Why do manufaturers wait years to provide a package with options people are looking for if at all. I am feeling good about my upgrades to my Marlin GG. I got new sites, new recoil pad, new trigger, scope rail etc. etc. My last upgrde will be a larger lever loop when I have a spare 200 to spend.

Marlin now packages a rifle with all of these features except trigger at MSPR under $1000, which means my conversion piece meal cost me a lot more money than simply buying a new rifle outright.

I can't complain about my rifle as I got the gun for a little over 400 thanks to Dicks's sales and mis-marking the SS for the blued, and honoring the price. Thats not bad when the guns were selling elsewhere for 560 at that time.

I am sure Marlin has pissed off more people than pleased with this package as there are a lot of gun owners out there that are realizing what I am, they already have a gun they heavily invested in, and they wait until now to offer such a package.

It has a 6th shot extended tube too. That's an expensive upgrade too.. GRRRR....

Just venting on a Saturday morning.

If it makes you feel any better, you got that gun at an exceptional price. :D

It is a marketing game.
There is no good business reason to start of a product with all the bells and whistles unless you see how it sells. Now that Marlin has seen what people spend to get improvements( and they are aware of them) they are willing to add to their products to get more of the "Pie"

Naw, it's just that they see us all making the changes and see that there is a market nitch for them to fill. They are the ones behind in the game.
It is beyond me why they still even sell any of them with the knuckle buster levers that they all come stock with.
