My wife is always saying this when she feels someone needs to disappear. But there is a story behind it.
Back in the late 70s, a Captain in the military, and his wife were having marital problems. They decided to go to a cabin on a remote lake for a week alone so they could settle their differences and work things out. Five days later the captain called the State Troopers to come and help rescue his wife. He reported that a bear had been harassing them at the cabin. He had left his wife barricaded in the cabin while he used the boat to came for help. When they got to the cabin it was too late. The cabin door was open and the wife was missing. There were no remains, just a few pices of skin, blood, and hair. She had been eaten by bears, and there was not much left.
OK, that's the official story.
Now my wife who knew the investigators, got a different story from them. Its just they could never prove it. They feel the Captain took his wife out to this remote cabin and staked her out so the bears could find her. The investigators felt he had done something to her to either incapacitate her or that he had killed her. Anyway the Bears left little evidence, No evidence, no proof, he walked. The Captain collected the insurance money, a very large amount. He left the state as a widower.
So ever since that date when the wife and I are having words, she will pop up right out of the blue and say, "You aint taking me on no one way hike in bear country". I'll get to laughing so hard, it will totally difuse what ever is going on. That statement has become one of her favorite statements. She often uses it to express her displeasure about someone, such as this carjacker. She will say, "That person needs to be taken for a one way hike in bear country.
