So ?

Yes the 300 Win Mag works well on Deer/ Moose , that is why we have it right ?

You might share some loads / bullets Etc . that is being used  to make this more intersting .

180 Bal. Tip for Deer, I used to only use this bullet in '06 & down, but they "toughened" it about 10-12 years ago & is great in 300WM for Deer. For Elk & bigger, I go with the 180 Accubond or 200.
With either 180, BT or Acc., 75gr. of RL22 is a classic, of course work up to it with Win brass & Fed 215 primers if you can find them. In a 24" tube you should be around 3,050fps. I use RL25, a little stiffer load,
won't tell amt. of powder for 3,130 fps & fantastic accuracy.

Your all a great bunch .

I just have started with my own 300Wm, having had used my father in laws rifle a few times . In deer country south of were we now live( North Bay ) we used Levers,  for we were hunting in close quarters in mixed bush. Hunting then up here in more open bush and swamps shots on animals would be more on moose and good sized black bear , and shots could reach out . We used rifles in the 3006 class, and this year decided to purchase a 300 Wm. The 35 Rem, now undergunned
I would think there will be a shot at a deer at close range and the  hunting season overlap , so some thought should be given to the loads to use . Guess I should get away from just the cup and core bullet .

about 20 caribou, 3-4 black tail deer, 3 moose. Started out using 165 gr bullets but they messed up too much meat and since most of my hunting is in brown bear country, I prefer the 180's at about 2900, or 200 gr. Mostly use the 180 Nosler partition but like the Speer hot cores too. Yeah its a little bit of a comfort to have the extra horsepower if a brownie pops up - and I saw 8 in 10 days of moose hunting last fall. All went the other way which was fine with me.

;)Ah, the old .300 win. mag. my favorite for many years. Lets see, not counting predators or varmits, it has taken, whitetails, mulies, antelope, black bear, moose, elk, caribou, axis deer, 2 kinds of sheep, plus about a dozen or so African antelope. My favorite bullets are 150 BTBT for very light game and coyotes. Have a 28.5 in semitarget rifle for shooting coyotes at long range. Also have used the Serria 165 HPBT on much game, my favorite premium bullet is Nosler 200 grain Part. at just under 3000fps. it shoot almost as flat as a 180 but hits harder and penetrates deeper. But there are no flies on the 180 part. either. When I go on a serious hunt, it is the old 700 custom stocked and  custom barreled .300 I reach for. It is now on its 3rd barrel. For winter coyotes or coyotes at long range, the 28 inch barrel get the nod. Love it.

Whitetails only at this point. But when the time comes to hunt elk, moose or similar game, I feel that I am well-armed
