All except death dates came from 1850 and 1860 Census Records hope this helps

Descendants of Unknown Cronin

Generation No. 1

1.  UNKNOWN1 CRONIN died Bef. September 25, 1850.  He married PRISSILLA UNKNOWN.  She was born Abt. 1772 in Ohio.

Notes for PRISSILLA UNKNOWN:
September 25, 1850 Federal Census of Wanye Township, Monroe County, Ohio shows Prissilla Cronin as 78 years of age living in the home of her son in law Anson Smith, age 24 years, and his wife Elizabeth, age 23 years, ( her daughter) along with one child Jerimiah shown as 6/12 ( 6 months of age)

All were shown as being born in Ohio.

Child of UNKNOWN CRONIN and PRISSILLA UNKNOWN is:
2.   i.   ELIZABETH2 CRONIN, b. Abt. 1827, Monroe County, Ohio; d. January 03, 1857, Monroe County, Ohio.

Generation No. 2

2.  ELIZABETH2 CRONIN (UNKNOWN1) was born Abt. 1827 in Monroe County, Ohio, and died January 03, 1857 in Monroe County, Ohio.  She married ANSON SMITH Bet. 1848 - 1849 in Monroe County, Ohio.  He was born Abt. 1826 in Monroe County, Ohio, and died 1907 in Woodsfield, Monroe County, Ohio.

Notes for ANSON SMITH:
September 25, 1850 Federal Census of Wanye Township, Monroe County, Ohio shows Prissilla Cronin as 78 years of age living in the home of her son in law Anson Smith, age 24 years, and his wife Elizabeth, age 23 years, ( her daughter) along with one child Jerimiah shown as 6/12 ( 6 months of age)

All were shown as being born in Ohio.

July 20, 1860 Federal Census of Wayne Township shows more kids Sarah A., 8 years, Roseberry 9 years, Clara age 6 years, and Aaron age 3 years.

There were other children shown that were not on the 1850 Census and just the way they are listed makes me think they are notr their vcjildren but a relatives maybe. They were Mary A. age 16 years, Catherine A. age 14 years, and Anson age 1 year. That would have to be researched out to finfd where they came from.

The wife shows a name of Pernina Smith age 35 years. and the mother in law does not appear. Due to her age in 1850 it is very possible she died.

There are other Smitths two homes down Head of Family is Aaron Smith age 30 years with a large family. This man is a possible brother to Anson.

Children of ELIZABETH CRONIN and ANSON SMITH are:
   i.   JERIMIAH3 SMITH, b. Abt. April 1850, Monroe County, Ohio.
ii.   SARAH A. SMITH, b. Abt. 1852, Monroe County, Ohio.
iii.   ROSEBERRY SMITH, b. Abt. 1852, Monroe County, Ohio.
iv.   CLARA SMITH, b. Abt. 1854, Monroe County, Ohio.
   v.   AARON SMITH, b. Abt. 1857, Monroe County, Ohio.

WOW!
Thanks REDTAIL!!!!!
That jives with family history  and fills in some gaps.
The unknown Cronin was Michael Cronin married to Prissilla UNKNOWN =( Pricillah Pully from VA.)
Anson Smith father was a Jeremiah Smith born around 1801.
That is where the Smith line comes to a stand still.
So no one knows where the Smiths are from.
I just tell everyone that we are American mutts.
I've heard that alot of Irish and Scottish names were changed to (SMITH) once they hit America.
I don't know if that could be true or not.
Is there any way to track down Jeremiah Smith?
And could you tell me where and what sites to look at?

THANKS again for taking the time doing all the research, I really appreciate it.
If you are ever in Ohio let me know, bring the family and we will treat you to a real home cooked American mutt feast!
Thanks again

Willy

Smith the most common name in America. some were German ..

I will do some digging for you if I understand you trying to follow jerimiah and his decendents? I will do it as a fool with william latons so it might take a little time but i will give it a shot.

What do you have on Anson 1823 Parents what names years of birt and so on. I have hit a brick wall with this one because i have no leads back. There are 100s of possible candidates for his father all named Jerimiah Smith all born 1803-1805 in Ohio that are possible. So I need all the hints and helps i can get. I have spent hours trying to get it by even sorting out your family going down and it is possible I am tying into the wrong persons.

i am filling in the blanks backwards and forwards on that tree and i have found a few things that just do not make sense. i will continue and i want you do know i am still working on it. I will fill in some stuff then put it up for you and see if you can add to it with any info you may have. Any and all clues are helpfull very helpfull in this stuff.

I can do you the same as williamlayton I can email census records that will show you family all the way back to 1850. I have records prior to that back to 1790 the problem is they only list the names of the head of household and the how many children an persons in certain age groups. they are tons of Jerimiahs in Ohio and we do not know how many children he had to even attack it from that angle. I have not given up.

We might have hit a brick wall on this one.
All I've got on Anson's parents is that his father was Jeremiah Smith about 1801-?  and his mother's name was Margaret,,, no idea of birth date or death (no maiden name for her)
I don't know if they had any kids other than Anson.
I also have no idea where they are from.
So with all these clues I'm sure you will be able able to trace the line back to at least the 1600's!  LOL
I appreicat you trying though.
Thanks again.

This is what I have so far. Can you fil in the blanks or correct anything or add to it?

Descendants of Anson Smith

Generation No. 1

1.  ANSON2 SMITH  (JEREMIAH1) was born January 1823 in Monroe County, Ohio, and died 1907 in Woodsfield, Monroe County, Ohio.  He married (1) ELIZABETH CRONAN Bet. 1848 - 1849 in Monroe County, Ohio, daughter of MICHAEL CRONIN and PRISCILLA CRONAN.  She was born Abt. 1827 in Monroe County, Ohio, and died January 03, 1857 in Monroe County, Ohio.  He married (2) PERNINA UNKNOWN November 06, 1857 in Monroe County, Ohio, daughter of UNKNOWN SOUTH and UNKNOWN.  She was born Abt. 1820 in Monroe County, Ohio.

Notes for ANSON SMITH:
September 25, 1850 Federal Census of Wanye Township, Monroe County, Ohio shows Prissilla Cronan as 78 years of age living in the home of her son in law Anson Smith, age 24 years, and his wife Elizabeth Cronan Smith, age 23 years, ( her daughter) along with one child Jerimiah shown as 6/12 ( 6 months of age) There was also a Margaret Cronan age 36 years living with them. Was this Elizabeths sister?

Note the spelling of the last name  of Priscilla CRONAN on the 1850 Census.
All were shown as being born in Ohio.

July 20, 1860 Federal Census of Wayne Township shows more kids Sarah A., 8 years, Roseberry 9 years, Clara age 6 years, and Aaron age 3 years.

There were other children shown that were not on the 1850 Census and just the way they are listed makes me think they are not their children but relatives maybe. They were Mary A. age 16 years, Catherine A. age 14 years, and Anson age 1 year. That would have to be researched out to find where they came from. They might have come a previous marriage of Pernina.

The wife shows a name of Pernina Smith age 35 years. This is his new wife the other Elizabeth Cronan had died. The mother Priscilla Cronan of Elizabeth does not appear in 1860 nor does the Margaret Cronan that was possibly the sister or sister in law to Elizabeth. Due to her age, Priscilla, she could have died or when he remarried she moved out taking Margaret Cronan with her.

There are other Smitths two homes down Head of Family is Aaron Smith age 30 years with a large family. This man is a possible brother to Anson.

You got the right line .
Now if you could just go back one generation from Anson.
I'm thinking that maybe Jeremiah may have changed his name to Smith to cover who he really was???

How do you know Jerimiah Smith is the father of Anson of 1823? I can find nothing other that some speculation that he was. it does not matter as I just can not tie anyone to Anson. I mean it is like a dead end with a big brick wall...lol

still trying tho

Just family history.
I heard my grandfather talk about his dad Roseberry and a little about his grandfather Anson, but there was never any mention of Jeremiah other than his name.
I'm not even real sure if the birth date is 1801.
Looks like a pretty high brick wall on this one.
