Remington 700 sporting some new wood!!
« on: April 20, 2009, 06:09:05 AM »
Here are a couple pics of my Remington 700(formerly a CDL) in 270 Winchester sporting some new wood. ;)  Found this Remington Laminate stock from a 700 LSS and snatched it up.  What do you think?

Well, I think it's pretty darn nice klt1986. It sure has a nice big, comfortable looking butt pad on it.

Suprisingly enough, that's the Remington Supercell pad.

It sure looks like it would absorb a lot of the recoil. It must just be the angle of the picture that makes it look so big. Don't get me wrong though, I like the looks of it. I like the entire stock. In fact, I'd like one just like it for my .223 Tactical (with Hogue stock), but I'd need the VLS (Varmint Laminated Stock) with the beavertail fore-end. Little difference in color, but note the difference in the butt pads. I'd much rather have the pad off your LSS stock:

The SuperCell is Remington's replacement for the R3 pad which was made by Sims.  The R3 is probably 1/16" less thick and it did an excellent job with the .270, however some were not very tough.  The SuperCell, according to Remington, is supposed to be much more durable and absorb recoil just as well.  Time will tell as I hope to shoot the rifle before weeks end!
