Damage Control with "Mound Master"
« on: April 29, 2009, 10:54:11 AM »
Well I set up my beaver damage job yesterday. Not much of any sign really, so I only set 3 traps. One was on a bank hole were I've caught beavers in the past. The other two set where the infamous 330 castor mound set used and perfected my our very own BogMaster.  I caught two beavers over night and both were in the castor mound sets. I got my cardio check in by humping both them critters in the back pack at once. It was about 100 yards to the car up hill at about a 40 degree angle. I didn't vapor lock so I must be good. LOL!

Set 1 Mound Master #1

The beaver 60 lbs female

Set 2 Mound Master #2

The beaver 41 lbs I suspect a male?

The Pair

You must have a big back pack. Good job, I always get excited when I catch multiple beavers a spot, but the excitement wains when I have to carry them back to the truck.

The Female had three pups in her. They went to my taxidermist today as part of the payment for this years deer mount. He still owes me a baby skunk mount yet that was a trade deal too. Tomorrow morning when I check the traps I'm picking them up, I really don't expect any more beavers. But who knows for sure?

I shot a jake turkey this morning, so few gobbles around yesterday and none this morning. I figured I best whack the jake when he showed up with some buddies. Boned out the thighs and legs for stir fry tonight, still tasted like wild turkey legs LOL!

The lure is made by and I purchased it from our very own Tom Olson (BogMaster) I don't trap many beavers mostly just when someone ask. I have been using Bogs lure now for I believe it's 10 years already? It's hard to beat Bogs 330 castor mound set up when you want to get in and out of a place in short order.
My guess is Mr. Olson is up north right now showing the beavers who is their daddy LOL!
