SB1 or SB2

Does anyone have a line on telling whether a frame is an SB1 or SB2 by serial #...

A guy at work here brought in a "shooting match" gun.  Looks to be a Pardner 12ga w/ a color case frame serial #

NP272636

I've looked in the FAQ's and determined that it was made in 2000, the bbl has no markings that i've found yet. 
I haven't convinced him to pull off the buttstock so I could look to see if the frame is skeletonzied or solid.

He's telling me that if another person does not buy it tonite, then he'll part out what I want and sell the rest.  Of course, I'm wanting the reciever for a spare.  If I can get it cheap enough, I think it would be a great candidate for a .357 or 44 mag bbl project i've been wanting to do.

I called H&R but they're closed until monday.

I say it's a SB1. It was made in 2000 and if it has obvious case hardening I'm pretty sure it is an SB1.  You can check the Fax's and it wil tell all.

Well you can't really tell by the case hardening... SB2 in BC's have case hardening though I doubt this is one of them...

I'm fairly certain it's an SB1 though...

There are pics of the two frames sxs for comparison in the FAQs, it could possibly be an SB2 BC frame which are case colored also, but I think in 2000 they were marked as Wesson & Harrington with proprietary serial numbers,  but I don't know that is a fact.

Thats what I thought as well.  I went to pull the buttstock off it while ago in the shop here, but its full of lead shot and didn't want to make a big mess.  When you pull the bbl off and look at the frame from the inside it looks like its a cast metal frame and seems to be heavier, which leads me to believe it is actually a sb1... I'll have to call monday to find out for sure.
