Youth Turkey Hunt
« on: April 30, 2009, 02:16:24 PM »
Anyone get out? I took my son and nephew out both days. Saw lots of birds and heard lots of gobbling, but didn't connect. Late Sunday morning we set up in one spot and literally two minutes after we set out the decoy and sat down, a gobbler poked his head out into the field about 60 yds away. He might have come closer if it had not been for the bugs. You see, my son was getting bugged and as I sprayed the back of his neck I noticed the bird. Too late! He saw the movement and didn't stick around long. Oh well, that's the way it goes. Awesome couple days with my son and nephew in the turkey woods! We'll get 'em next time.

Very nice. Congrats. Been out a few times with my son and two nephews. Seeing and hearing lots of birds, but skunked thus far.
