GM shut down??

I just heard something on the news about GM possibly shutting down all of it's US plants for 9 weeks this summer.
Has anyone else heard anything about this??

Heard it on the news today,  nobody is sure about the details there either.  Our place shut down for a week, and will attempt to try to shut down every Friday that it can this summer unless incoming orders are too high to do it.  We don't build anything that is not sold, GM does, that has to be a problem in any place where you manufacture.  If I were them I'd do my best to figure out how to manufacture to customer orders a lot faster and not make a finished product until there was a customer order.   We would have been shut down years ago had we not figured that out where I work.  But what do I know...

GM makes money in Europe and in other overseas divisions. That's how they can continually post losses here in the US.
