I used this safety.

I lengthened the magazine box to fit 250 Speers.  This VZ-24 didn't feed round nose 8x57, and doesn't feed round nos 35 Whelen, either.  I'll fix that some day.
The weight, and the Limbsaver, make it nice to shoot.  I also bought a hinged bottom metal from Sporter Express, but it opens when I shoot, so I reshaped the original bottom metal and added the extended release button.

This rifle is pleasant to shoot, but it is no mountain rifle.  I only hunted with it one day this year (lots of rifles, few hunting days.)  That day I walked several miles after a wounded deer.  Carrying the rifle and a back pack, I felt like my arms were gonna fall off.

.....

Yeah, I used that same 2 position safety on the 2007 version when I when from the scout scope to the one over the receiver.  Took it off when I put the Timney trigger with the side safety in.

I was reading this thread a couple months ago and it got me started. I picked up a VZ last fall. Basically gave it a good cleaning and stopped there. This last week I got it out and started dissassembling it. I had found a decent stock for it. So in between working on the original I've been stripping the new stock. My hopes are to be able to bring it back to near original.

And you guys are right. These really are great old guns.
