New in the box 5.7X28 pistol
« on: May 14, 2009, 05:09:51 AM »
Friend just recieved a new in the box "pistol" caliber 5.7x28 This thing holds 22 with one in the pipe.

Kinda looks like a 223 short. Anyone have any experience with this round or pistol.

Manufactured by FN in Belgium.

This thing looks like a "riot breaker" and is no bigger than my Glock 21.

Yep, the 5.7x28 has been on the market for 5 yrs or so. Originally designed as a SMG round, then FN chambered the pistol for it.  With the right ammo it penetrates ballistic vests pretty handily. William Layton is the proud owner one one of these pistols. I'm sure he'll be along shortly to tell you all you want to know about it.

I have one and it is fun. It handles like a .22 and hits harder and longer.
The ammo is pretty pricey.
It would make a good defense round for a woman that is shaky about recoil.
If'n I could go back too the old days when I could find a good high bluff over a river---well I would have a good day.
It is a good, reilable weapon.
Have fun.

They are accurate, reliable, and neat. Power wise they are effectively a center fire .22 Magnum. We carry the ammo, current stock of 40g V-Max is running 19.00 per box of 50.

Well I couldn't stand it I bought one today and a whole bunch of ammo for it. This thing is light and holds a  bucket full of shots in one clip. I haven't shot it yet but will tommorrow! comes with three clips and mine has fixed sights with low profile. I believe a fella could conceal carry this puppy(maybe not in summer).
Willing to bet its first on the ban list when that happens.
