Not for me. Those drums cost a lot. Even in a dogtown with cooling time & all a 20 or less does me fine. A big one would also get in the way.

The 100 round Beta C-Mags don't stick out much more than a straight 20 round AR magazine.

If you're shooting a LOT of prairie dogs, you might benefit from a 100 round Beta mag, but the 30s and 40s tend to hang out of the gun a little far to be useful shooting from the bench.  Also, as 1sourdough pointed out, you do have to let your barrel cool at some point.

I have done much more than that at a time.  Mine is still accurate.  I even had it in a full auto lower and we burned through 4-6 mags to play with it.  everyone was amaized at how effective the muzzle break was over a flash hider and everyone wanted to dump whole mags ( most 30 a couple were 20's )out of it.
With the swat officers 16" M4 upper we could keep 3 of the 5 rounds on target and out of my Armalite A2 upper with the factory break we were able to keep all 30 rounds on a 20" square plate at 100 yards.
But if you are varmint hunting I do not think you are going to have that kind of sustained firing rate.  Even if you get to hunt on Jurasic park.

I would not suggest a large capacity magazine for varmint hunting.  I used a beta c mag before in my M-16 while I was in the Army and it jammed more times than I thought was possible (at least 15 times).  Thankfully, I was at a range in Fort Hood, TX and not on the streets of Sadr City, Baghdad.

With a larger capacity magazine, the higher cartridges that it can hold, the more spring tension is needed to ensure the first round will feed.  In the AR-15 platform, a 30 round magazine is about the best choice between max number of cartridges and reliability of feeding (Army did a lot of research on it).  Besides a 20 or 30 round magazine that gets damaged is much easier to replace than a $300 beta c magazine.
