351yd Coyote
« on: May 11, 2009, 05:08:23 AM »
This is my longest kill yet on any animal.  Saw him in a  cut corn field sniffing around.  lazed him at 351yds, pulled out the drop chart on my 223 to see the mil hold over, and pulled the trigger.  he did the death spin about 10 times, stood up on his rear legs and fell over.  A liitle luck im sure on the perfect shot placement (complete pass through both lungs and heart).  Needless to say, i was quite happy.  So was the land owner, LOL!!  Im sure that this is the outer limit for a 223 and if not for the perfect shot placement I would of had at the very least a tracking job to do, but it all came together in the end.

Hillbill, I use JBM calculations for my drop charts and have found them to be pretty accurate.  I have found that with my weapon though, I add .1 Mil to whatever JBM states. It was a 20.1" drop or 1.6 Mils. The wind was coming from directly behind my and straight to the coyote so I did not have to worry much about wind drift.

glanceblamm, the land owner is putting me onto two other farmers' land to take care help with their G-Hog probs.
