Author Topic: I just hit the lotery for $400,000.00 (Read 1064 times)

I have been playing the lotery for a couple bucks here or there. Mostly to buy a new rifle. I play 243 and 308 when ever I get a couple extra bucks. I figure if I hit straight I will head right to the gun store and buy either the 308 or 243 SPS Varmit Remington 700. Well I hit tonight. I lied a little in the headline though. I played 243 and 308 for $0.50 straight and $0.50 box tonight. The number tonight was 803. I did not hit it straight. I hit it boxed. I only have $40.00 comming to me from it.

Oh well I have hit a few times a year in the past for $500.00 at a time. Looks like I don't have enough to buy the new Remington this time around.

I knew the headline was off the second I opened the thread. If Dale would've really hit $400,000, there would have been at least that many smiley faces running down the page.

But congrats on $40.00. That's better than a stick in the eye. Well, it is if you didn't spend, say $50, to win the $40.

I only play a couple times a month. When I do it is only for a few dollars. I have hit a couple times for $500.00 though. Dale

I have a Ruger #1V in 25/06. It's my favorite rifle. On the 1 hand it has dropped 45+deer... On top of that, it's the one rifle I own where people come up to me and ask about it at the range... It's pretty.

Unfortunately I believe that the lottery is a tax on people that are bad at math, but most of my relatives do not agree!

I don't play it either victorcharlie. I consider it the poor man's tax. It seems the majority of the folks that play it, really can't afford to waste the money, and are just barely gettin by, but waste it they do. Oh well.

Yea, I don't mean to offend anyone, but I call it the "stupid" tax.

That said, a fellow can spend his money anyway he pleases so long as it's legal.

It's unfortunate that a state would stoop to such tactics in order to gain revenue.

The best part of it is, they never spend it on what they told the people they would spend it on. They have usually taxed the people to the point of being afraid to up the taxes, so they simply tax them in a dishonest but fun way.

I too don't want to offend anyone, but I wonder how many dollars worth of tickets Dale bought before he won the $40.00?

I spend two dollars twice a week. If I didnt I would spend it somewhere else like for pop tarts or something like that. I can afford it and I find it entertaining. Plus some poor fool paying an extra tax always seems to win it. I could spend my 4 dollars a week on worse things like beer and cigarettes, which I could never win a million on.

Yes that is true. I would have had to bet $40,000.00 on that one number to win what my head line reads.
