Fish Hunting...........
« on: May 13, 2009, 11:56:20 PM »
Hello Everyone,

Just a quick hello and hoping all is well. I got a call from a hunting/fishing buddy yesterday and he was telling me about a spot on the Sav. River where he has been seeing a bunch of big Gar. I detest those ugly bullies, so we have planned to go hunt a few with our bow fishing rigs. I think rain is in the forecast, but since the fish are already wet, I am sure that they do not care. I may get in some range time, but gar huntin is in season Saturday. Have a great day and God Bless You All !!!

Shooting gar fish is big fun with the right gear. A couple of friends and I put portable deer stands along the creek years back. After the season was over and we all wanted to hunt a little longer. We found that plenty of gar were always floating close by. We never shot any big enough to brag about but it was fun and helped pass the time between seasons.

Biggest Gar I have ever seen, and the most, were in Lake Weiss in AL.  Fished a lot of bass tournaments over there in the late 60's early 70's and always saw Gar.

Friend of mine has a spring fed pond on his place and 2 years ago he got 3 nice eatin sized catfish with his 22.  They were right at the waters edge with the head on the top of the water.  Now any time I see him with a 22, (he's a muzzleloader man), I have to ask him where he's goin fishin. ;D  DP
