Button, Button - Rossi 92 Lawyer/Bolt Safety Turfed !
« on: May 14, 2009, 01:32:14 PM »
I had an hour to kill, after supper this evening, and was sorting through my scrounge box - where I've still got "stuff" from as long ago as the late 60's.

I had decided to get rid of the bolt top lawyer safety on my Rossi .357 - wings and all - so there was a method to my madness.

In the box, I ran across a couple of Remington 1100 issue crossbolt safety buttons, that I had kept after converting some fellas guns to Giant Head or left-hand safeties.

Sooooo, I chucked the end of one into my hand drill.

Then, I started up the drill, and held the safety against a file for awhile

Now that it's turned down, I'll see if it fits a lawyer hole

I then filed a notch for a retaining pin

And cut off the part that won't stuff into the lawyer hole

Almost "off"

HOUSTON - WE HAVE SEPARATION ! !

File down the teat, off the cut & polish it smooth

NOW it fits in the lawyer hole, much better !

OK, Time to go watch the RedSox lose again !   :(

I had an over-sized safety on my 1100M once.  On more than one occasion, I noticed the shotgun was accidentally in the fire position.  I re-installed the factory safety.  Not a fan of the big safety buttons.
