McNairy County 8 Point
« on: December 12, 2008, 04:14:14 PM »
Well I broke the Stevens 243 in Thanksgiving week. Decided to change up my tactics once again and it paid off. I had been seeing a big bodied rascal in the bottom 2 mornings in a row on the edge of a thicket. This morning I got to my tree sat down on the ground and waited for him. Sure enough, at 7am he come strolling through with a doe in tow. Picked a spot in the thicket and when he got there the 95gr Fusion hit him and 30 yards later he hit the dirt. Man I love it when a plan comes together. This is my biggest buck to date and on my little ol 6 acres at that. Of course there is 200 more acres around it, but who cares :D Got him on my land and that is what makes it so nice. Dont know what he will score, but he sure is nice for me.

Man I love a 243 ;)

Nice Buck from over in Buford Pusser country!

Good thing that buck didn't surf the net and know he couldn't be killed with a .243 huh?

Real nice buck, congrats. I echo the 243 thing, deer just don't realise that they are being shot by a peashooter and they could really survive the experience.

Nice wish I had hunting like that on my own personal little "almost six acres". I've only got around 5.64 give or take a few square feet. Like there there is a good deal of other woods around but also a whole lotta homes around as well. Deer do come down to my pond at times but it's so close to the highway it's not legal or safe to hunt there other than with bow and so far all seem to come only at night anyway as it's just too open for day time use.

If it weren't for all the free running dogs I think some would use my wooded back area but the dogs spend too much time roaming thru for that. If I ever complete the fencing of my land to keep the dogs out I think deer might move in back there.
