7mm08 range day
« on: May 09, 2009, 12:43:35 PM »
The new 7MM-08 barrel seems to be working out ,I had a chance to day to try IMR 4350 with the Hornady 139 SP bullet at 60 yards almost got 4 bullets in the same hole
I think a little more playing around with the COAL and give or take a few grains in powder should make it a tacke driver.I still have the original 30-06 barrel in the safe
can't think what I want to do with it yet.
I do like the new thumb hole stock I did get to try to-day man what a difference seem to take up on the recoil a lot better then the regular stocks.

Glad to hear the good news about the 7mm.  Sending off for a 7mm-08 barrel this summer.
It's all a hot mess...........

I am thinking in trying the 120 grains
I am using the hornady 139 grain SP bullets I think it is a excellent deer round.
I started last year summer playing the new barrel and found IMR3031 powder was good but not what I was looking for.I did try Sat: some IMR 4350 43.0 grain seem to do the trick.I like the load mild would say a tad more then my 243 cal. and a lot less recoil them my 30-06.
I miss the ejector my 06 barrel has compared to the extractor the new 7mm barrel came with.I been reading fact and question and was thinking in trying to convert the extractor to ejection.
I don't mind the extractor on my 38-55

i never played with 3031 in mine, with the 120 i did alright with varget and real good with RL15

on a side note , i hate ejectors on handis , i have a had time keepin all my brass to reload 9 times out of 10 you only need one shot anyway.
