« on: May 10, 2009, 03:38:58 PM »
I am looking into the H&R in 22-250 bullbarrel  How accurate are these guns with heavy barrels? I Have a choice  between an H&R heavy barrel and an Encore barrel From Midway or Cabelas.

Also the search comes in handy  ;) Just type in 22-250 and specify NEF/H&R Centerfire rifles...

Well Poop!!!!, I'm working on that at 300 yards and hope to go eventually to 500.  Two inches at 100 yards in anything but a short range lever deer gun is garbage.  Out of a bull .22-250 it should dump bullet on top of bullet at 100 yards........ask Tim, he knows.

I believe that is the factory quota for all handi and ultra rifles.  I have found from experience though from reloading and reading this site that almost all the calibers will do an inch an under at 100yds.  Every handi that I have reloaded for I have gotten 3/4" and under.

I have read many posts though that the .243 weather in bull or standard barrel can be a down right b**ch to reload for.  i think a 22-250 bull with reloads will perform quite nice.
It's all a hot mess...........

If I can get 1/2" at least once in a while I will be happy. Hey Petemi is the snow still on the ground by you?  ;D I still wonder if an Encore barrel is a bit better.

ihookem, Thank God the white crap is gone, but it's still not too late to get some more.  Just about every morning, early, is a range day, before the wind gets up.  By the end of the week I'll have my .357 Maximum put together and shooting, and I'll post a report on that.  The .357 Magnum that the guys here helped me put together is shooting and punching one hole at 60 yards.  Thanks to you all!!!  I'm going to get a buddy of mine to spot for me, and I'll be shooting the bull .22-250 at 300 and 400 yards this week.  I'll post what we find out.

There is a lot of good info in them FAQ'S I have a few bbl that I have picked up that guys could not get them to shoot 1" ever and dump them .I have only had to clean out the factory gunk polish and shoot . Some guys just think you paid good money for the gun and all you should have to do is open the box and add bullets. Makes for good finds on the classifieds that little SS 1-12 .223 will shoot nickles at 100yrds with cheap UMC ammo. ;DKurt

Coyotes are fair game for property owners here any time when "Doing or about to do damage"  The wolf is just a "Tall' coyote.  Anytime works.......................don't ever say I said so.

I got home the other evening and went to put the horses in for the night, and noticed my top half inch electric fence ribbon was broken.  I put the horses up for the night and decided to fix it in the morning.  Went out the next morning and found the whole fence to be gone.  Top 1/2 inch tape and two rows of 12 1/2 ga. wire below it.  Whatever hit it came from outside running in, and it was big and heavy.  I replaced 14 insulators, and it took about a half dozen splices and two hours to repair the fence.  Had to be a black bear.  Deer wreck fences, but not like that.

Oh, forgot to mention, our wolves are greys, not timber, their real name is target.
