Pics, but I need to correct my swing

Here are my golfball cannons. I was trying to clear 500 yards on a bet, and the darn thing hooks,slices and spins straight up I tried charges of 125,150,200 and 250 and couldnt do it. Golfball bore is 1.715 and 3.250 deep. Powder chamber is 1 inch by 1 inch deep. Any suggestions?

Get rid of the golf ball and go to a zinc projectile. Even then 500 yards might be a bit of a stretch for this small gun.

What would a zinc ball that size weigh, and do you leave the same windage?

1.68 diameter zinc ball should weigh just over .6 lb.  I always recommend the standard 1/40 windage rule of thumb for safety reason. You can go smaller if you understand what's required to do so; things like cleaner bore, guaged balls, reduced loads, etc.

My 1.66 diameter ball cast from scrap zinc weighs 244 grams or 8.60 ounces.

I used George's round ball calculator to get my number.   Max's number is real world, real deal measurement.

The round ball calculator assumes uniform density in the cast object, that is, no shrinkage voids.  Zinc castings require extra attention to keeping the sprue liquid while the shot is solidifying.

 I can't find it with the search function for some reason, but a few months back we had a discussion concerning possible ways to increase range and accuracy with golf balls in a mortar.

 IIRC, we pretty much agreed that something has to be done to put a uniform backspin on the ball. My suggestion was to put two screws through the top of barrel near the muzzle, protruding just enough into the bore to grab the ball and stabilize it as it exits.

 I nominate you to test this theory

Well I will admit that a subway napkin wrapped around the ball to give it a ever-so-slighty snug fit doesnt help.

I know one shot the ball must have rolled along the botton more than others because it came out and climbed incredibly high. I like shooting my 1 inch more. It seems to have more bang, shoots further, straighter and Inch bar stock is as cheap as shag balls anyway.

In certain industries, a piece of self sticking velcro is
stuck in places where a bit of drag is required.

This is used in the packaging industry with blister packing
and other places.

It may be worth experimenting with.

I wouldn't expect much life, but velcro is cheap.
